Farrar Straus Giroux Books for Young Readers

My Manuscript Wish List®

Farrar Straus Giroux Books for Young Readers has published acclaimed books for children and teens since 1953, and we are proud to continue in the tradition of publishing children’s books of great literary merit. I’m looking for picture book, middle grade, young adult, graphic novel, and nonfiction books that are diverse and inclusive, reflect the assorted experiences of populations that have been traditionally underrepresented, and capture the complexities of children’s lives.

I am looking for books that represent writers and stories that encompass issues of race, the LBGTQ+ community, socioeconomic status, disability, and mental health. I’m not very picky about tone as long as it’s appropriate to the content, and welcome well-drawn romance, humor, and dramatic works equally, though genre-wise, I’m most drawn to contemporary realistic, grounded fantasy, and horror stories.

More specifically, as an immigrant from the Philippines, I would love to acquire books that make Filipino culture more accessible to readers and showcase its complexity, as well as books that reflect the Southeast Asian American or immigrant experience.
