My Manuscript Wish List

Catherine Laudone, Simon & Schuster

**I am actively acquiring picture books and middle grade novels with a special focus on finding stories featuring underrepresented voices. I am especially passionate about stories featuring neurodiverse and disabled characters in both the picture book and middle grade categories. I am NOT acquiring young adult novels at this time.

Fiction Picture Books: I am drawn to classic-feeling, character-driven stories with a strong hook. I love clever twist endings, fresh spins on timeless themes, and characters that make you laugh or cry. I would specifically like to find stories about friendships, learning to be self-confident and embrace one's uniqueness, and fun sibling and parent-child relationships. I am open to both text only submissions and illustrated projects from author-illustrators.

Some picture books I've worked on:

Share Some Kindness, Bring Some Light by Apryl Stott (New York Times bestseller)

Swim, Jim! by Kaz Windness

Tiny Feet Between the Mountains by Hanna Cha

Nonfiction Picture Books: I am looking for kid-accessible narrative nonfiction and biographies featuring positive role models and untold real-life legends.

Some nonfiction picture books I wish I had acquired:

  • Ada's Violin: The Story of the Recycled Orchestra of Paraguay by Susan Hood and illustrated by Sally Wern Comport
  • Finding Winnie by Lindsay Mattick and illustrated by Sophie Blackall
  • Pocket Full of Colors: The Magical World of Mary Blair, Disney Artist Extraordinaire by Jacqueline Tourville and Amy Guglielmo and illustrated by Brigette Barrage

Middle Grade: I am particularly drawn to coming of age stories with lots of heart, strong friendships, and sibling and intergenerational relationships. I am also open to some historical, light fantasy, or magical realism middle grade, graphic novels, and novels written in both prose and verse formats.

Some middle grade novels I've worked on:

Muffled by Jennifer Gennari

The Dream Weaver by Reina Luz Alegre

Fun facts about me:

I'm an avid tea drinker and chocolate lover. I also enjoy making pottery. 🙂
