My Manuscript Wish List®

I’m the publisher for Everywhen Press. I wear many hats for the press including editing and managing the editorial process, marketing and sales, and publicity. I am the main point of contact at the press.

I am looking manuscripts in the genres off magical realism/low fantasy grounded in reality; folklore/myths/legends and fairy tales seeded with culture (particularly interested in stories from countries other than the United States). Characters need to be dominated by robust characters who are easily relatable; the setting and nature are clearly defined that they function as a character in their own right. The stories themselves should lend well to an illuminated aesthetic or be well supported with your own art.

My focus is in acquiring diverse voices from a range of backgrounds. I am also drawn to stories with strong humanistic and natural themes focusing on hopeful what-ifs, and I am drawn to non-romanticized romance–a strong bond and emotional connection without romantic feelings, friendly love experienced through camaraderie.

Stories do not need to be set in the modern day. A solarpunk setting would be great, or a story set in the early 1900s. I am not fond of war stories where the war is a main part of the plot.

Fun facts about me:

  • If I could be anything, I would be a pirate sailing on the high seas during the 1600s/1700s but with modern conveniences.
  • I am a a fan of serial comics. I use WebToons, Manta, and other apps.
  • I enjoy anime, but I really don’t watch TV.
  • I am an avid collector of art and medieval manuscript pages. Art auctions are a major weakness for me.
  • I enjoy gardening even though I don’t have a green thumb. I also have a serious phobia of bees and wasps.
