Jenny Bak

I primarily acquire high concept middle grade and young adult fiction (including graphic novels) along with the occasional picture book. I am drawn to stories at the intersection of commercial and literary, especially those with irresistible hooks, a swift pace, clever storytelling, unexpected twists, and authentic voices. I am actively looking to publish underrepresented writers, particularly those from indigenous backgrounds.

In YA, I’m interested in fantasy, speculative fiction, thrillers, horror, and contemporary romance but only if it incorporates deeper themes, especially concerning issues of inclusivity and belonging.

In MG, I’d love to see heartstring-tugging friendship/found-family stories, exciting adventure chronicles, magical realism, literary animal fantasies, and thrilling mysteries to puzzle out.

I’m not a huge fan of science fiction, sports, and high fantasy.
