Hannah Allaman

I edit middle grade and young adult fiction, as well as a select number of graphic novels. I am looking for stories with voices that makes an indelible impression on me, relationships that feel undeniably true, and a setting so vibrant and immersive it feels like a character itself. I want a strong hook to grab me on the first page and gorgeous, lush writing to back it up. I’m particularly drawn to magical realism; contemporary realistic stories driven by friendships or family relationships; young adult mysteries/psychological thrillers with perceptive and believable protagonists; atmospheric, original middle grade fantasy adventures; character-driven, genre-bending sci-fi that’s grounded in our world; contemporary fantasy, particularly featuring witches or magic of any kind; contemporary romance and rom-coms; multiple POVs, interesting formats, and unusual narrative structures; and cross-genre stories. I grew up on a small family farm in the Midwest and now spend most of my time binging shows on the Food Network, tap dancing, and starting cross-stitch projects that I’ll inevitably abandon midway through.
