My Manuscript Wish List®

Emilia Sowersby is a Japanese-American assistant editor at Roaring Brook Press, part of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group (MCPG).

She was born in Japan and grew up in Las Vegas and Colorado; she then went to Brown University where she studied Literary Arts and Public Health. Through it all, she’s always used books to escape, and she’s particularly fond of YA fantasy that plays off of familiar tropes, but still manages to surprise her, gripping romance, and genre-bending. Otherwise, she is also a board game enthusiast, MMORPG obsessed, and forever a fangirl.

She is currently acquiring YA and middle grade novels. She is open to all genres (excluding nonfiction) but is especially interested in fantasy, anything historical, anything with romance, and always cutting edge stories that address social issues of class and race (Asian American representation a plus!). She loves smart escapism, detailed world-building, and stories that make her laugh and cry in the same chapter.

You can find her hiding in the shadows of twitter, or stalk her LinkedIn.
