Elizabeth Bewley

Sterling Lord Literistic

My Manuscript Wish List®

I am looking for young adult, middle-grade, and adult fiction; young adult and middle-grade narrative nonfiction; adult prescriptive nonfiction driven by a pop-culture savvy. I enjoy literary and upmarket commercial voices, and I am most excited about projects with strong narrative hooks and/or big ideas.

I particularly enjoy realistic contemporary stories, domestic dramas, dramedies, stories with unusual structures, love stories, novels set in the ancient world and/or that center on Greek mythology, stories with elements of magic or fantasy grounded in a real world,  novels inspired by classics, particularly American classics, and books that give readers an inside take on a little known world. Please see the Sterling Lord Literistic website (www.sll.com) for instructions on how to submit to me. Please note that due to the high volume of queries, I will only respond when I am interested in a project.

About me:

Elizabeth represents authors of young adult, middle grade, and adult commercial and literary fiction; she also represents some artists of picture books and authors of prescriptive nonfiction. After graduating from Northwestern University in 2002, Elizabeth got her first job as an editorial assistant at St. Martin’s Press. She then went on to hold editorial jobs at HarperCollins, Intervisual Books, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers, where she was an Executive Editor. She joined Sterling Lord Literistic, Inc. in 2017, and she is always on the lookout for a novel with a great plot or a book that is so beautifully written that she can’t stop thinking about it. Elizabeth’s clients include Shana Youngdahl, Raquel Vasquez Gilliland, Alyson Noël, Dwayne Reed (aka: America’s Favorite Rapping Teacher), Dawnn Karen, Jenny Elder Moke, Mercedes Helnwein, Joan Bauer, Jennifer Lynn Alvarez, Chrystal Giles, and Yvette Clark, amongst others. In addition, she represents some literary estates, including those of Marguerite Henry and Lois Duncan.
