Sarah Landis

Sterling Lord Literistic

My Manuscript Wish List®

Sarah Landis represents standout and New York Times bestselling authors. She is actively building a list consisting of young adult, middle grade, as well as adult fiction.

Before joining Sterling Lord Literistic in 2017, Sarah worked as an editor for fifteen years, holding roles at G.P. Putnam Son’s, Hyperion Books, HarperCollins Children’s Books, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers. Sarah graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia.

Sarah is particularly drawn to middle grade fantasy and contemporary with heart, humor, adventure, and magic. In the young adult space, she has an affinity for southern settings, diverse voices, high-concept plots, big hooks, inventive and distinctive world-building, strong emotional core. In the adult space, she is looking for speculative fiction that features a world like ours, but with a mind-blowing twist, sweeping fantasy, and twisty thrillers.

Some things I’m especially interested in at the moment in YA and MG: unique fantasy with a truly original magic system, middle grade fantasy like BLACKTHORN KEY and A TANGLE OF KNOTS, and illustrated middle grade akin to A WOLF CALLED WANDER. If you have the next UPROOTED or THE RAVEN BOYS, I’m your girl. Send me your angsty YA romance that makes me cry!

On the adult side, I’d love to find a smart atmospheric thriller like THE DRY or a twisty thriller a la Ruth Ware or Alice Feeney, speculative fiction like THE MEASURE or WEYWARD, and I’m on the hunt for lush grounded fantasy like THE BEAR AND THE NIGHTINGALE and THE TEN THOUSAND DOORS OF JANUARY. I’m a sucker for anything end-of-the-world apocalyptic. Think: STATION ELEVEN or THE PASSAGE (THE STAND is one of my all-time favorite novels).
