My Manuscript Wish List®

Hi there! I’m currently an editorial assistant at St. Martin’s Press and mainly looking for adventurous, grounded fantasy, funny lit fic, and speculative fiction across YA, New Adult, and Adult. I love books with a clear, unique aesthetic that are endearingly offbeat and massive tearjerkers.

Across age categories, I’m open to:

  • Whimsical, adventurous fantasies with a quirky ensemble cast, in the same vein as In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klune, Things in Jars by Jess Kidd, etc. Anything that will make me laugh, cry, and want to escape to another world, please send my way!
  • Speculative books that tackle complex themes, like mortality and time, in an uplifting, hopeful way. Think If Cats Disappeared from the World by Genki Kawamura, It Lasts Forever and Then It’s Over by Anne de Marcken, and Everything, Everywhere, All at Once (if it was a book instead of a fantastic movie).
  • Bubblegum horror, like Mona Awad’s Bunny and Rouge. Something that will keep me up at night, but wrapped in a pretty pink package. Fun, campy, and creepy.
  • Contemporary fiction with platonic and/or queer love at its core (or any genre that encompasses these themes).
  • Spooky and strange books with a strong sense of place, in the same vein as shows like Over the Garden Wall or coming-of-age books like Craig Davidson’s The Saturday Night Ghost Club.
  • Funny, somewhat off-putting lit fic with a protagonist who makes disastrous decisions (something like Big Swiss by Jen Beagin or Kittentits by Holly Wilson).
  • Lit fic that explores the inner workings of a delightfully dysfunctional household, à la Kevin Wilson’s The Family Fang and Patrick deWitt’s French Exit.

Fun facts about me:

I’m a theatre kid at heart. Hadestown, Spring Awakening, and Great Comet are my three favorite shows.

I’m an INFJ (which is not as rare as I thought in the book world).

Every month I say I’ll move to London (and then I don’t).

I’m obsessed with anything medieval.
