Corvisiero Literary Agency

My Manuscript Wish List

Kelly has her B.S.Ed. in English and originally became a teacher. She quickly found out that the teaching profession wasn’t for her and followed her passion for books instead. After working for Corvisiero Literary Agency over the last two years, Kelly has come to find that  she’s extremely picky, a tough editor, and an even greater enthusiast due to her background in teaching, editing, and blogging. Her passion is her work and her enthusiasm shows. Working to continue her career as a literary agent, she’s begun the process of building her client list and continues to search every day for the fit that’s right for her.
What I’m looking for:
Kelly is looking for voice driven fiction in the MG, YA, NA, and Adult age ranges. She loves stories with strong world building, characters that are easily relatable, and writers that have a natural understanding for proper pacing within their manuscript.
MG: Adventure, Fantasy, Paranormal, Sci-fi.
I lean more towards adventure, quirky characters, and a lot of humor in MG!
YA: Fantasy (all sub genres of fantasy accepted), Steampunk, Sci-Fi, Paranormal, Historical (19th century and earlier with strong heroines), Dystopian (hold the cyborgs, the scorch, and diseases, please), Sword and Sorcery, Westerns, a very selective few for Contemporary Romance, and any combination of the above with strong, female main characters.
My strong points are Fantasy and Sci-Fi in YA, but I also love a really well told contemporary that isn’t just the ordinary love story. Give me some action, relatable characters, and diversity, and you’ve got me hooked! I adore getting lost in worlds and characters too, so if you have a manuscript strong enough to give me a book hangover before it’s even published, you’re a winner!
NA/Adult: Fantasy, Paranormal, Romance (Cowboys, anyone? Sexy and somewhat geeky entrepreneur? Sports? Yes?), Historical Romance, or any combination of the above.

I enjoy a good amount of romance in the NA/Adult age range, and prefer the younger end of adult. I’m also a sucker for military and sports romances–basically anything that can make me cry uncontrollably by the end is a good romance. I enjoy happily ever afters… but sometimes your main character just has to end with hope, rather than happiness.

Non-Fiction, Emotional Turmoil, Mystery/Crime, Children’s Picture Books. I’m not much of a fan for Emotional Turmoil (i.e. stories that revolve around depression, anxiety, rape, etc.), as I’ve already lived through so much and prefer my books to help me escape, like many of us do. Characters that have some of these traits but it doesn’t overwhelm the story are okay. Please don’t take it personal, but triggers are triggers, and I like to be happy. =)

Fun facts about me:
– I have a horse named Leroy and ride western.
– I workout at a UFC gym and take some pride in my ability to throw a good punch.
– I’m a huge animal lover and can’t stand dog movies or books because I just cry.
– I have two pups of my own, and am planning on getting another hound dog eventually.
– I grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs.
– I teach dance in my spare time, with pointe being my favorite!
– I practice mindfulness and the successful mindset on a daily basis.
– I’m a large camping and outdoor enthusiast. Spring is my favorite!
– I’m a large sucker for Reese’s and chicken bacon ranch pizza…not at the same time…
– I’m called Superwoman because I’ve worked three jobs (two full and one part-time) and am still productive.
– My clients become family. We even have our own writing group.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions should be emailed to http://QueryMe.Online/KellyPeterson

Please follow the submission guidelines on my submissions page and send your query using my Query Manager Link! I always need to see the following:
– Strong query
– Five page sample
– 1-2 page synopsis

It makes my life a lot easier when you put all of your general information in the first line. Give my your title, genre, age range, and word count up front! The more voice in your query, the better. I like to be enthralled from the beginning. I also pick and choose clients by who I would get along with, so some quirky details about you in that final paragraph of your query and in your bio can do wonders. You like horses too, and your horse’s name is Bocephus, or Celaena Sardothien? Awesome! The more relatable, intelligent, and human you appear in that small paragraph, the better. =)
