My Manuscript Wish List

I’m a New Yorker, born and raised in the Bronx, and I love my city! I’m eager to build my list to match my eclectic tastes and hope to appeal to as diverse a readership as possible. I’m an avid reader, a lover of music, a huge Harry Potter Fan, and enjoy anything (TV, books, board games, etc.) dark, witty, moody, or #woke.

I’m drawn to fiction that hits the sweet spot of being both literary and commercial. Beautiful sentences are a plus, but a smart and compelling story with a unique voice is the perfect mix. Fiction that is socially aware, contemporary, edgy, satirical, or humorous is ideal. I am interested in cross-genre stories, as well as traditional genre fiction, specifically in upmarket women’s, psychological thrillers/suspense, literary horror, magical realism, and mysteries (hard boiled, detective, police procedurals, but please no cozies.) Marginalized, Own Voices, and diverse perspectives in regards to race and ethnicity, sexuality, and gender, is extremely important to me and I try to think about this factor in each of my acquisitions.

Some dream projects include: A book that follows the model of hit HBO show Insecure; Stories set in New York about native and diverse New Yorkers (particularly in the outer boroughs); An LGBTQ relationship explored through a non-romance lens; A contemporary Southern Gothic featuring multi-cultural characters; Stories featuring multicultural millennial characters in workplace situations; A detective series with a Latinx or person of Asian descent lead; A witty and satirical upmarket women’s fiction novel that reveals a nasty side of a major industry (art, dance, fashion, music, etc); A twisty dual narrative psychological thriller with multicultural characters; A magical realism story in an urban setting with Latinx characters; A witty, smart and sardonic female protagonist investigating big businesses, set in a major city; A literary horror novel with a chilling and unexpected twist;

I’m not interested in: Romance, HISTORICAL of any kind, Erotica, YA, Middle Grade, Fantasy, High-Concept Science Fiction, Memoirs, Screenplays, Non-fiction (for now)
