My Manuscript Wish List

I joined Stonesong Literary in May 2015 after interning at the Sarah Jane Freymann Literary Agency. I have a background in art and trained as an illustrator before I joined publishing, and therefore have unique insight and expertise when it comes to design-heavy or illustrated works. I’m a very editorial agent, and I find a lot of joy in shaping stories alongside the author.

I recently enjoyed I’LL GIVE YOU THE SUN, THE GHOST NETWORK, WHY WE CAME TO THE CITY, SLADE HOUSE, and WHITE CAT. Some of my favorite authors are Jasper Fforde, Terry Pratchett, and Holly Black.

If what you’re writing isn’t explicitly listed below, that doesn’t mean I’m not interested in it. If you think you’ve written something I’ll love, pitch it to me!

I love: DIVERSITY; sophisticated MG; magical realism/urban fantasy MG/YA; anything with a tight-knit ensemble cast; secret societies; history/archaeology; unreliable narrators; smart psychological or supernatural Suspense/Mystery for any age; detectives; teen noir à la Brick; witty literary fiction [that borders on absurd/surreal]; wordplay; considered and thorough worldbuilding; [folk] witches/psychics; Clueless-esque 90s/teen movie updates of classic stories; books that teach me about some new craft or technology or course of study; formats that are specific to the story and give it its own context.
I might like: Pop culture, Humor. (Try me!)
I’m not interested in: Romance, Women’s Fiction, Erotica, High Fantasy (swords and sorcery-style) or Historical fiction. Period fiction is fine–there is a difference! I’m just not drawn to fictionalizing actual history/historical characters. However, historical fantasy [like Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell] is something I’d LOVE to see.

Fun facts about me:
  • I’m a Hufflepuff (and a hardcore Potter fan)
  • I studied art and artifact restoration during my semester abroad in Florence
  • I have an adorable Maine Coon mix named Melpomene, Pom for short

Please see our FAQ, our step-by-step guide to booking your meeting, a list of participating agents and editors–and consider joining our Facebook group, a free, friendly community of writers cheering each other on through this process.

Please note: Meetings are posted once monthly, and then often sell out. If there are meetings available, you’ll see them bolded on the calendar below after clicking “Set Time Zone.”
