Ruqayyah Daud

I am an Associate Editor LBYR,  acquiring young adult and middle-grade novels. I’m drawn to commercial books with a strong hook, emotional core, and vibrant characters. In the YA and middle-grade markets, I am open to both contemporary and fantasy. I am a big lover of diverse sweeping fantasies, as well as fantasies rooted in our world. Additionally, I enjoy southern settings and atmospheric small towns. More specifically, in YA I am interested in finding more romantic comedies with diverse characters, particularly black leads.

Most recently, I’m actively looking to acquire a diverse lush romantic fantasy in the style of Shelby Mahurin, Sarah J. Maas, and Kerri Maniscalco. A book with a compelling romance, a unique and mesmerizing world, an exciting magic system, and an unforgettable diverse cast is my absolute dream. I’d love to have something like this on our list!

I am also eager to consider more Palestinian voices and would love to add a Palestinian author (or more!) to my list.
