Fun facts about me:
I like reading about mammals  and insects and birds and reptiles and amphibians. Once while visiting Florida during Covid, quite on impulse I bought a tiny turtle, like the kind they used to sell in Woolworths, fully expecting it to not outlive my visit. However, it survived, much to my surprise. But how to get it home to New York City?  I was told that if you sneak a turtle onto a plane and get caught, you’re banned from flying ever again—seems a bit harsh, but . . . I couldn’t face a train ride during Covid—all those unvaccinated small towns on the way North, and I had grown fond of the little creature. I couldn’t bear to let him loose to be bird food. So I mailed him to myself—Google is SOOO useful.  I did tell the Post Office that he was a Key Lime pie and had to be overnighted in order to be fresh.
Wonder of wonders, Timmy is now a big, big boy and has a big, big tank and the run of the house. He was four-years old on July 1st and with any luck will outlive both me and anyone reading this little tale.

I’d like the next…
My favorites include…
I watch a lot of European crime shows and read a lot of European crime fiction. My favorite film is NASHVILLE. I was scared silly after watching LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND.  I stopped eating mammals after reading Mary Doria Russell’s THE SPARROW. I love RIVER and THE NIGHT MANAGER—and will watch anything that features either Stellan Skarsgard or Tom Hiddleston (ALMOST anything—I never watch comic-book films.) Lately it has been necessary to watch an unusual amount of comedy to take my mind off things—Monty Python, anything Gene Wilder or Lily Tomlinson—and sometimes it is comforting to watch old Raymond Burr Perry Mason reruns—the good guys always win.
