About me: Prior to becoming a literary agent, I moved from Michigan to New York to begin my life in publishing at Penguin Random House and rose to become a senior editor at Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. I have had the joy of editing children’s book legend Tomie dePaola; New York Times bestselling authors like Stuart Gibbs (Spy School) and US soccer star Alex Morgan (The Kicks); and award-winning creators including Daniel Miyares (Float), Jessica Lawson (Nooks & Crannies), and Heather Vogel Frederick (The Mother-Daughter Book Club). I also edited bestselling I Dissent: Ruth Bader Ginsburg Makes Her Mark by Debbie Levy and Elizabeth Baddeley. I love guiding authors and illustrators toward their best work and advocating for them in service of building successful, sustainable artistic careers. I live in Brooklyn, New York.
I am currently seeking middle grade fiction and young adult fiction.
I am looking for voicey, character-driven stories with a high caliber of writing and evident storytelling craft.
I love books that use humor as a tool to reveal funny, unspoken truths about kids’ experiences or to carry heavier themes about family life or the world at large.
I appreciate books that honor children’s capacity for understanding and imagination, and I am not afraid of stories that artfully push the envelope in addressing evolving societal issues or norms (all wrapped in a page-turning narrative, of course).
I enjoy subversive narratives, genuinely surprising twists, and unreliable or unexpected narrators.
I particularly adore stories with unabashedly intersectional themes.
I like stories that are wistful yet hopeful, macabre yet funny, eerie yet optimistic, and best of all, stories that make me laugh until—suddenly—the rug gets pulled out from underneath me and I'm surprised to find myself in tears.
In middle grade, I am seeking literary fiction, mysteries, historical fiction, and magical middle grade.
In YA, I am looking for contemporary rom-coms, mysteries/thrillers, and *uplifting* literary fiction.
I am also seeking to add illustrators who write picture books to my client list, as well as graphic novelists—particularly those creating works for the younger end of the spectrum (5–7 years).
I am not accepting picture book manuscripts, issue books, or nonfiction at this time. Greenhouse does not represent poetry collections, short story collections, screenplays, erotica, or titles for the Christian/inspirational market.
