Josi Beck

Hi! I’m the owner of Beck Literary Agency, as well as a USA Today Best Selling Author.

I have ten-plus years of publishing experience and three-plus years of literary agency experience. I started representing myself when I couldn’t find an agent who I connected with. Through trial and error, I built numerous relationships in the foreign and audio markets, as well as friendships with various authors. After a few years of doing this a couple of my author friends convinced me to open an agency, and here we are.

I hold an associate’s degree in business management, and am a member of the Association of American Literary Agents.

I’m super interested in: diverse characters with disabilities, own voices, omega-verse, cozy-dystopian (is that a thing?). Genre mash ups (think: thriller + romance + speculative). Villainous heroines. Enemies to lovers, but like they legit hate each other for more than two seconds. Complicated relationships, and messy characters. Sports romance, but not your standard hockey, or football.

Contemporary romance with dark themes (no darkness between hero and heroine).

Non-tradtional relationships, and marganizled stories. Queer romance. Supernatural romance, with gothic tones. Anything that puts a twist on the standard tropes, has cross genre selling potential, and has elements of romance in it send it our way. I’m really interested in thriller, and anything that keeps me flipping the pages until the very end. 

We do not represent short stories, poems, plays, or scripts.

I’m also not a great fit for YA, historical romance, rockstar romance, and anything with politics in it.
