My Manuscript Wish List®
I joined Algonquin in 2022, after three years at Little, Brown and Company. Before arriving in New York, I interned at Graywolf Press in Minneapolis, read for McSweeney’s Quarterly in San Francisco, and managed irrigation systems on a ranch in California’s Trinity County.
In looking to build out my list here at Algonquin, I’m eager to acquire plot-driven literary fiction, particularly by underrepresented authors. I’m a huge fan of well-written novels that cross genres, and give new perspective—speculative thriller, historical or near-future horror, westerns about race and class—as well as observant fiction that moves the conversation on contemporary issues.
On the nonfiction side, I’m looking for narrative proposals that explore underreported cultural phenomena or shed new light on a charged historical moment. I like big ideas, poignant stories about the environment, and literary memoir blended with politically oriented examinations of present-day issues that locate somewhere in the intersection of race, sex, class, and gender.
