My Manuscript Wish List®

Erinn Pascal (she/her/hers) is a #1 New York Times bestselling and Eisner-nominated editor of children’s books, comics, and pop culture titles.

Presently, she is the Author Stewardship Manager at PJ Library, a nonprofit organization that sends free, high-quality Jewish children’s books to families every month. These stories spark conversations that inspire the whole family to explore and celebrate what they love about Jewish life.

As Author Stewardship Manager, Erinn is not on the Book Selection Committee. However, she holds an instrumental role in fostering meaningful relationships with authors / illustrators & inspiring and promoting the creation of Jewish children’s books.

For more about PJ Library, please see here: https://pjlibrary.org/about-pj-library

Prior to joining the team at PJ Library, Erinn was an editor at: Andrews McMeel Publishing, Scholastic, Disney, and Simon & Schuster. She has also done work for Union Square Kids, HarperCollins, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and Barefoot Books, as well as many other media companies such as NBCUniversal, DreamWorks, Lucasfilm, Marvel, Toikido, Neopets, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Sony, Netflix, Asmodee Entertainment, and more. She is also a freelance author and writes under the pseudonyms Cala Spinner and Lana Crespin.

Erinn is originally from Pembroke Pines, FL. She graduated from Emerson College in Boston, MA with a BFA in Writing, Literature & Publishing and a Minor in Marketing Communications. Erinn currently lives in Los Angeles, CA with her husband and poodle mix, Obi Woof Kenobi.

Throughout her career, Erinn has been passionate about creating books for “distracted readers”—stories that are accessible, emotionally resonant, & designed to meet kids where they are. She is particularly interested in uplifting creators, brands, and their authentic visions.

PJ Library is currently seeking books that center authentic Jewish joy across a wide range of formats, including:

  • Board books
  • Picture books
  • Chapter books
  • Early readers
  • Beginner comics
  • Middle-grade graphic novels
  • Middle-grade fiction
  • Middle-grade nonfiction
  • & more!  (i.e. adjacent hybrid or innovative formats)

For more on PJ Library’s content framework, please see here.

Erinn is particularly interested in working with authors & illustrators who represent historically underrepresented Jewish communities, including (but not limited to):

  • Sephardi
  • Mizrahi
  • Maghrebi
  • Bukharan
  • Ethiopian
  • Berber
  • Malabar Yehuddim
  • Kaifeng
  • Cochin
  • LGBT+
  • Neurodiverse
  • Disabled
  • Blended family
  • Adoption / adopted

She is always excited by projects that expand the canon, challenge assumptions about what Jewish stories can look like, and invite young readers to see themselves—and their joy!—on the page. 🙂

Additionally, she is extremely passionate about mentoring marginalized authors and creators in the book publishing world. She is open to having conversations with BIPOC, disabled, LGBQT+, neurodiverse, and low-income creatives about breaking through that barrier, whether about Judaism or not.

  • “Vegan”-izing family Colombian and Ashkenazi Jewish recipes
  • Collecting Pokémon cards (she refuses to call them “vintage”, and especially new Umbreon card variants as she works toward an Umbreon master set)
  • Doing Pilates (badly)
  • Getting lost (and spending way too much money) at comic con artist alleys
  • Browsing the local farmer’s market for fresh veggies (baby cauliflower is her favorite)
