My Manuscript Wish List®

I’m looking for children’s books that are highly commercial and have a strong nonfiction hook. I’m drawn to books that are funny and sneakily educational, books that offer a fresh take or new perspective on an evergreen topic, books that make big ideas accessible and interesting for kids, and books that kids and parents will want to read over and over again. I’m also always looking for projects that give voice to underrepresented topics and people, and books that promote cross-cultural learning.

I’m open to most subject areas and really enjoy learning about new topics. I love the outdoors and nature, and accordingly love kids’ books that leave the reader amazed and delighted by the world around us. I’m always on the lookout for engaging STEAM books, and am especially interested in books and stories that highlight the intersection of science/nature and art, the humanities, or social-emotional topics. I love traveling and am especially drawn to books that make kids feel like they’re exploring new places. I also love books that underline the interconnectedness of people around the world.

I’m also on the lookout for fresh, mass-friendly nonfiction books for kids that center around one or more of the following:

  • history
  • geography / travel
  • crime / detectives / real-life mysteries
  • body positivity
  • health / exercise

Fun facts about me:

  • I love the outdoors and will typically venture out in almost any weather
  • I’m a die-hard Michigander, but I love traveling and exploring new places – I studied abroad in Germany for a year
  • I took a book arts class in college where I learned how to set type and print using a Chandler & Price platen letterpress
  • I’m currently learning to play ukulele
