Beth Miller

Writers House

My Manuscript Wish List®

Beth Miller came to publishing via a nontraditional path. A scuba diver since she was 14 and an avid lover of the sea, she went to college to study marine biology—wanting, like many other marine bio students, to work with whales and dolphins. Although a nine-week semester at sea on board a schooner and a three-month internship in Monterey, California, reinforced her love for the sea, she realized that general biology was a better choice.

She then spent several years working as a DNA sequencing technician at the prestigious Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, but reading and writing called to her more and more each day. She pursued a master’s degree in literature while writing her first novel, and upon completion of the degree, turned her eye toward the publishing industry.

Beth joined Writers House in 2007, where she’s been ever since, working closely with senior agent Robin Rue. She has had the pleasure of working with many bestselling authors in various genres, as well as the joy of building her own list, working with talented authors in romance, women’s fiction, new adult, and young adult.

On the personal side, Beth still scuba dives whenever she can, and while she hasn’t yet hugged a whale, she did get to rub beluga whales’ tongues while she interned at the NY Aquarium. She also has a fascination for all things Scottish (including, but not limited to, men in kilts). She is also an author of Into the Scottish Mist, A Star to Steer Her By, and Under a Storm-Swept Sky under the name Beth Anne Miller.
