My Manuscript Wish List

Tanusri is actively looking for picture books, middle grade and YA. She gravitates towards picture books that have a strong hook, wry humor, twisty endings, or lyrical, meaningful stories. In YA, she loves fantasies that transport her into a different world (like anything by Kristin Cashore, Leigh Bardugo or Sabaa Tahir), contemporary stories with a touch of romance that make you weep and laugh (like Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor and Park, Becky Albertali’s Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda or a more contemporary version of a John Hughes movie, think The Breakfast Club with a Twitter handle!). She also enjoys emotionally compelling coming of age stories (like The Perks of a Being a Wallflower) and voice-driven literary suspense (like Marisha Pessl’s Special Topics in Calamity Physics). On the middle-grade side, she is drawn to realistic narratives involving vulnerable yet resilient protagonists, stories about siblings and other familial relationships, quirky school stories, and mysteries, but she’s also open to fantasy, magical realism and stories based on mythology from different cultures. (Favorite MG novels include The Graveyard Book, Esperenza Rising, Wonder and The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place.)  Across these genres, she would be thrilled to see diverse protagonists and worlds that draw from different cultures and experiences.
