The History Press

My Manuscript Wish List

I’m a nonfiction acquisitions editor focused specifically on history titles in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. My particular historical interests lie in the food, ethnic heritage and true crime categories, but I am always looking for history titles across the spectrum. Civil War to company histories, and everything between!

In my spare time I love writing, cooking and taking walks. I’ve created a blog called Widows & Orphans Publishing connection to aid in the reversal of confusion that might occur sometimes between authors and editors.

Fun facts about me:
  • My dog’s name is Kayjay–Karmen Jr.
  • My favorite colors alternate between jade green and lavender purple.
  • In my senior year of high school I was recognized as one of the top 40 cheerleaders in the state of GA.
  • I LOVE cooking.

Submissions should be emailed to karmen.cook@historypress.net

The quickest way to get an idea to me is emailing! If submitting via the online form, please be sure to include my name if you are pitching a concept within the following states: NY, NJ, PA, WV

Generally, our titles are 30,000-40,000 words with roughly 50-60 images, but these numbers do change occasionally. Upon submission, please also include a brief writing sample and 3-5 sample images at a minimum of 300 dpi and 6 inches wide.

The History Press is a publisher of non-fiction local histories. We unfortunately do not publish historical fiction or memoir as a result.
