My Manuscript Wish List

I’m looking for young adult and middle grade fiction, chapter books, and picture books across most genres. I love editing manuscripts that engender empathy and expand readers’ conceptions of themselves and how they fit into the world.

Picture books:

  • Realistic stories that explore tough, often overlooked issues in sensitive ways without being didactic
  • Picture books with quirky, over-the-top, or subtle humor that works for kids and adults (but mostly for kids)
  • Nonfiction-y picture books that dig into little-known stories or underrepresented cultural or religious traditions

Chapter books:

  • For chapter books and early middle grade, I’m looking for high-concept series—something with an imaginative premise, a quirky and diverse cast of characters, a punny tone, and a plot that moves along at a nice clip.

Middle Grade:

  • I tend to lean toward things with a literary bent in MG, contemporary or historical.
  • I’m particularly keen on historical middle grade that resonates in the present.

YA:

  • Upmarket suspense, mystery, magical realism, and accessible sci-fi and fantasy
