My Manuscript Wish List®

I represent fiction and nonfiction for adult, young adult and middle grade audiences. For nonfiction I am primarily looking for narrative nonfiction that adds to our current conversation and that helps us understand our world in a new, unusual way. For fiction, regardless of whether it’s literary, upmarket book club fiction, speculative or horror,  fantasy, science fiction, mysteries, thrillers, YA or middle grade, I am looking for a narrative voice that pulls me in (vague, I know, but true!). Manuscripts that particularly make me sit up and take notice these days are:

Upmarket bookclub fiction or literary fiction that engages with the challenges in our current world

Narrative Nonfiction that has something to say

Intergenerational family sagas (adult) or that feature intergenerational families and relationships (adult, YA and mg).

Novels that explore cultural heritage (adult, YA, and mg).

Novels that have a speculative edge  (adult, YA, and mg).

Elevated horror (adult, YA)

Magical realism or books with a speculative element (adult, YA and mg).

Projects from underrepresented or BIPOC authors (adult, YA and mg)

Psychological thrillers (adult and YA)

Mystery novels (female PI or detective) or literary/upmarket fiction that feature a mystery in the vein of God of the Woods (adult)

Adventure/Survival Types of Stories (mg)

MG novels that will make me laugh

MG or YA novels that will make me cry

Any novel with great characters and a compelling storyline

That being said, I’m really just looking for projects that I fall in love with and since I can’t always predict what that is going to be!

Consultations

logomswlacademy

As a new addition from The Manuscript Academy, #MSWL’s sister company, we are now offering e-meeting consultations with a select group of our agents and editors to go over your query letter or first page, get professional feedback, and learn more about the reactions you’re getting (or not getting…) from agents. You’ll be able to pick from Skype, Hangouts, or a phone call–and, yes, this works internationally. Please see our FAQ, our list of participating agents and editors–and consider joining our Facebook group, a free, friendly community of writers cheering each other on through this process. You can also learn more via the free MSWL podcast, with agent interviews, tips and tricks for giving your work its best possible chance.

Please note: Meetings are posted once monthly, and then often sell out. If there are meetings available, you’ll see them bolded on the calendar below. Want an email when new meetings go up? Click here.
