Inklings Literary Agency

My Manuscript Wish List

I am an associate agent with Inklings Literary Agency. After earning a BA in English, I worked in the trade department at W. W. Norton for seven years before leaving to pursue graduate studies. I graduated in 2011 with a MA in the history of decorative arts. I joined Inklings in 2014, first as an intern and then as Michelle Johnson’s assistant.

I am primarily interested in adult fiction in the following categories: historical fiction (in all genres), women’s, book club, and upmarket fiction, romance (particularly historical, suspenseful, or with a comedic bent), mysteries (particularly historical or cozy, or historical cozies), and narrative nonfiction in the areas of social history, archaeology, art history, material culture, etc. I am also interested in select YA and MG projects with unique hooks and a strong voice.

In all cases, what I’m most looking for is a story that completely immerses the reader in the world of the book. I want to feel the sun on my shoulders, smell the smoke of the battlefield, and hear the horses galloping in the distance.

Some particular things I’m currently looking for:

-a YA novel set during the time of Partition in India

-a really heart-wrenching YA cross-cultural / religion romance

-a really modern and quirky take on the small English village murder mystery

-a mystery standalone or series with a setting so strong and atmospheric that it’s almost another character in the book

-a YA Outlander (aren’t we all looking for this?)
